Center / School Based Groups
Center Based:
Classroom Readiness Groups: These groups address the underlying skills necessary for classroom performance. Through a combination of gross and fine motor group exercises, the Occupational Therapist can address the areas requiring remediation in order to prepare the participants for effective classroom performance.
Practical Parenting Group: A functional and holistic approach to common parenting challenges. These groups run over a four week cycle by an Occupational Therapist and Counselor. The topics include, managing challenging behaviors, incorporating children’s needs into family routines and more.
School Based Groups:
OT Groups – These groups focus on various areas that are crucial for academic success, including sitting control, upper body strength, pre- writing, drawing, cutting skills needed for future school performance. In addition to this, the OT will work on attention span, focusing and organizational skills, based on the children’s age and development. All are provided with a multi sensory approach.
Speech & Language Groups – These emphasize language development, articulation, oral-motor work and socialization. All the academic skills that are based on language development and fluency.
Social Skills Groups – Emphasizing all the appropriate skills needed at this age for communication, socialization, turn taking, winning and losing, collaboration and competition. Behavioral support to the teachers is provided as part of the program.
