Robin Barbosa - LDTC ( Learning Consultant)

Robin has completed the Orton Gillingham Dyslexia Specialist Training Course and is certified through the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC) which accredits quality professional preparation in dyslexia. Robin also completed the Program of Education in Therapy for Dyslexia and is a Certified Orton-Gillingham teacher. She has been tutoring students for the past 3 years individually and in small groups. Robin earned a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland, back in the days. She received a Master of Arts in Learning Disabilities from Fairleigh Dickingson University and went on to become a Certified Learning Disabilities Teacher/Consultant, and currently works in a public school as an LDT/C and case manager in the special services department. Robin worked for Early Intervention conducting evaluations in English and Spanish and conducting behavioral consultations for children on the Autistic Spectrum, as well as providing developmental intervention on an individual basis within the home. She has been a teacher for preschool students; preschool disabled students, including othopedically impaired and students on the autistic spectrum. She has been trained in discrete trial teaching through the Eden Institute. Robin's interests are in alternative health maintenance and has been Nationally Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and worked part-time as Holy Name Hospital's community health services massage therapist from 1998-2003. She earned a Doctor of Naturopathy degree from Clayton College of Natural Health in 2004. Her passion for teaching reading comes from watching her students improve their reading and comprehension skills as they become independent and life long learners.
